This year has been genuinely atypical in every respect, including new watch launches. The COVID-19 pandemic enforced the leading watch brands in the world to revise and opt for other solutions for their new releases.
However, last week was pretty exciting for watch enthusiasts as they had the eye on some new watches. The recent innovative Geneva Watch Days paved the way for new launches from brands like Girard-Perregaux and F. Bucherer. But perhaps the entire world is waiting for one brand to lay its card on the table for this year, and that is Rolex.
There are lots of speculations on new Rolex watches and also, the ones that may be discontinued. However, the wait is perhaps finally over as the elite Geneva-based Swiss watchmaker has just declared their new watches for 2020.
So what are the big-ticket assets of this year from Rolex? Please continue reading to explore them.
The New Largest Rolex Submariner to Date
The iconic Swiss watchmaker, Rolex has announced its new Submariner watches for 2020. And they are – a steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner and Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner Date.
The Rolex Submariner is one of the flagship collections of the brand that enjoy incredible popularity and esteem. It is the watch compared to most other timepieces in the horology industry—the Rolex Submariner sports a clean, robust design.
If you think about a luxury timepiece, it is ideally the Submariner that would strike your mind.
Nonetheless, Rolex developed the new Submariner, keeping the current taste and trend in mind. The brand offered the new Sub a bigger 41mm case. What makes it historically significant is that this iconic watch is wearing this case size for the first time.
However, the new Rolex Submariner of 2020 looks slimmer in comparison to other models, thanks to its tenuous design and a little bit narrower lugs. The watchmaker has also upgraded the steel bracelet of this iconic diver’s watch with thinner but larger links.
A New 2020 Movement Powers the New Submariner
With the new Rolex Submariner comes a new Rolex’s proprietary 2020 Calibre 3230 movement. So what is special about this new movement?
Rolex says that this brand new automatic movement offers incredible power reserve, precision durability, and convenience. Also, the Calibre 3230 renders resistance to magnetic fields as well as shocks. This automatic movement has a power reserve of nearly 70hours.
On the other hand, Rolex has housed the new 2020 Submariner Date with a still-new Calibre 3235. However, it is the movement that Rolex used for the ever first time in the Submariner collection too.
Now, the fascinating fact is –
The new 2020 Rolex Submariner will be available in its classic black undertone. However, the brand has also offered it in two new exquisite colour combinations that will definitely lure its fans’ attention – green bezel with black dial and blue bezel with black dial.
No doubt, Rolex is a name synonymous to luxury, innovation, precision and success. Every year, Rolex fanatics and collectors do not miss to predict what new timepieces this legendary brand will introduce. This year, people had the least expectation to eye a new Submariner. In fact, they speculated that blue bezels and green Kermit bezels would drop significantly.
Thus, the announcement of the new Rolex Submariner for 2020 might come as a pleasant surprise to many.
Other New Watch Releases 2020
The cherry on the top is that Rolex has also made announcements of other new watches, besides the Submariner and Submariner Date ones.
Yes, four new classic Datejust 31 watches in 18ct white gold joined the Rolex’s catalogue. However, the Datejust featuring diamond bezel and sunray-finished dial with a diamond Roman VI takes the spotlight.
The other three new models with different dial choices are white lacquer dial, sunray-finish mint-green dial and dark grey dial. Also, each of these models sports the classic 18ct white gold fluted bezel.
Rolex has also introduced a 41mm edition of the standard Oyster Perpetual, and this timepiece will be available in two dial options – black and silver. Furthermore, Rolex also offered the small Oyster Perpetual 36 watch with vibrant lacquer dial colours like turquoise blue, candy pink, yellow, green and coral red.
Surprisingly, the speculations are still on regarding the discontinuation of some Rolex models. You just need to wait and look forward to any such announcements from the brand. Till then, enjoy the new Rolex Submariner flaunting the most oversized case diameter to date. Will it accentuate your wrist?
