When homeowners need to save space in a home there are a few options, apart from moving! Often homes will have loft storage space or a cupboard under the stairs. However, if you want to create living space then a conservatory can be a create solution. There are many ways to use a conservatory;
Dining Area
Dining is one of the many uses, as often conservatories can accommodate a dining table and dining chairs. The key to being able to eat comfortably, is to make sure the temperature can be controlled. Often a conservatory will have lots of windows to let in light, so make sure these windows are UPVC and of course double glazed. For extra privacy, make sure you fit blinds that can be adjusted to let in lots of light during the day and allow privacy in the evenings.
If possible, look at central heating options beforehand and work out if you can install a radiator with too much hassle and money. Obviously, you will need a professional plumber for this task, but if you install your conservatory, then spend money on heating with electric heaters, this will end up being counter-productive. You will have extra space, but it will be too cold in winter to use it. If the existing pipework is going to cost a lot of money, it might be worth looking at extension plans or another way to create space.
Home Office
If you have a nice garden, or simply enjoy being outdoors as much as possible, then working in your conservatory is a great idea. If you can work from home, then make sure you design the layout to make the most of the sunshine, but check that you can still work without the sun reflecting on your computer screen. An office requires lots of power points and a conservatory will be no different. Therefore, check you have enough power points and a phone line. It might be worth investing in cable tidies to hide lots of cables. Look at ways to hide wires with channelling, so that the wires do not become a trip hazard.
Play Area
The conservatory can be a great place for children to play in the wet weather. They can learn about the wildlife in the garden, without getting cold or getting wet. All conservatories will be erected with safety in mind aswell as warmth. If the temperature is warm enough, children will want to relax downstairs in this room. The conservatory can be transformed into a play area with soft toys and beanbags.
