Family
Sushant Singh Rajput was born on 21st January, 1986 in Patna, Bihar. He was the only son to his parents Krishna Kumar Singh and Usha Singh. He was the youngest in the family and had two siblings Shweta Singh Kirti and Mitu Singh, a state level cricketer. His mother passed away in 2002 and this completely devastated Sushant.
Education
Sushant had his education at St. Karen’s High School in Patna and Kulachi Hansraj Model School in New Delhi. After his mother’s death, his family moved to Delhi and all his focus was to secure admission with top rankings in engineering entrance exams. He got through successfully through 11 engineering exams and was also winner of National Olympiad inn Physics. In 2003, he joined Delhi College of Engineering to pursue Mechanical Engineering. He completed only 3 years of his college and with only 2 semesters left out for getting his Bachelor Degree in Engineering, he dropped his studies to pursue his career in the art and entertainment industry.
Career
During his college days, Sushant joined Shiamak Davar’s dance classes and it developed much art interest in him. His dance classmates were interested in acting and they took part in Barry John’s drama classes. He too joined the acting classes under the influence of his friends. He was very much into it that he found out that acting was his passion. In just a few months, he was chosen in Davar’s standard dance troupe. His dancing skills was much celebrated that he was amongst the ones who performed at the 51st Filmfare Awards. In 2006, following his excellent background dance performance he also was a member in the cultural troupe to perform at 2006 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Australia. He excelled in his dance and drama performance and moved completely into dance and drama full time.
Television
Sushant decided to pursue his career in acting and moved to Mumbai. He became part of Nadira Babbar’s theatre Group Ekjute. He was very much dedicated in his plays and was with the Group for two and half years. It was Nestle Munch TV Advertisement which gained him fame throughout the country. In 2008, he got the opportunity to enter Television based on his performances at Ekjute. Balaji Telefilms launched him in the series Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil in the character Preet Juneja. Although his character lasted only for a short period, his character was very much impressed by viewers and this brought him back in the finale as a spirit.
Sushant’s role as Manav Deshmukh in the soap opera Pavitra Rishta gave him great breakthrough. The series started in June 2009 and he received appreciations which indeed marked a milestone in his career. Sushant was not accepted by Zee TV when he was starred in the serial by producer Ekta kapoor. After she convinced, he was given the chance and the character took him to all houses. To develop his dance skills he got into the dance reality show Zara Nachke Dikha 2 in the Mast Kalandar Boys Team. In 2010, he paired with choreographer Shampa Sonthalia in the reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4. In 2011, Sushant quit the serial to take up a film making course overseas and his role was role to Hiten Tejwani. However, it was Sushant who again starred in the final episode of the serial in 2014.
Film Career
Sushant stepped into his film career when he passed the audition to take a lead role together with Rajkumar Rao and Amit Sadh in Abhishek Kapoor’s movie Kai Po Che! His role as Ishaan Bhatt was praised by film critics and the movie was a big commercial success. Following this, he starred in Maneesh Sharma’s Shuddh Desi Romance with Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor which was produced by Yash Raj Films. In 2014, he got a great opportunity to work with Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in a minor role in the film PK by Rajkumar Hirani. In 2015, he acted in the mystery thriller movie by Dibakar Banerjee under the joint production of Yash Raj Films and Dibakar Banerjee Productions, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!
Sushant Singh Rajput won millions of hearts when he portrayed the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biographical film of Dhoni, M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story. The film was directed by Neeraj Pandey and it was one of 2016’s highest grossing films in Bollywood. Sushant was widely accepted by audience and he won several appreciations along with nominations for Filmfare Award. Following this success, his next movie was alongside Kriti Sanon in Raabta by Dinesh Vijan. In 2018, he starred in Kedarnath costarring Sara Ali Khan. In 2019, he got back to back films including Sonchiriya alongside Bhumi Padneker directed by Abhishek Chaubey and Chhichhore with Shraddha kapoor by Nitesh Tiwari. In the same year, he also starred with Jacqueline Fernandez in the movie Drive released on Netflix. He acted in the movie Dil Bechara which was not released because of COVID-19 pandemic.
Girl Friends And Dating
Sushant was in 6 years relationship with his Pavitra Rishta Costar Ankita Lokhande and they part ways in 2016. It was told he was involved in relationship with actress Kriti Sanon. He was rumored to be dating Rhea Chakraborty, however he denied and said just friendship.

Sushant Singh Rajput won 5 awards including 3 major awards for Pavitra Rishta serial as best male actor and most popular actor. In 2014, he won Best Male Debut award at Screen Awards for the movie Kai Po Che! Death
Sushant Singh Rajput died at the very young age of 34 on 14 June 2020 in Mumbai. He committed suicide hanging in his home in Bandra. He has not left any note of suicide, however was under depression for six months. His last rites took place on 15th June at Pawan Hans crematorium in the presence of family members and film colleagues.
