Diaz was raised up by his mother and brother in California where he attended Tokay High School but dropped out after a year. He was a member of a swim team and football team. Diaz began training sessions in karate at a very young age and participated in wrestling as well.
Diaz became a professional MMA fighter at the age of 18, and he won his debut match against Mike Wick with a triangle choke at IFC Warrior Challenge 15. He would become the IFC Warrior Challenge Champion in just his second match, but unfortunately, due to some tournament issues, he was unable to do so. Diaz participated in Ultimate Athlete King of the Mountain which is also known as a single Night tournament.
He won the first two fights very swiftly but lost the final one against Jeremy Jackson. After winning IFC Welterweight Championship, he came to IFC again for defending the title against the player who defeated him one year ago Jeremy Jackson. But this time Diaz didn’t give Jackson a single chance to play according to his game, and he won the game via TKO in the first round.
The UFC members were noticing his success, and later on, he was signed by the UFC. He made his UFC debut against Jackson at UFC 44 and submitted him in the last round. He played only one match in professional boxing and defeated the opponent. His MMA record is 26 wins in 37 matches, and he’s still active in MMA/ UFC since 2001.
